NDRC to release Antitrust Guidance for Automotive Industry

The National Development and Reform Commission is to release the Antitrust Guidance for Automotive Industry soon.

Tire producers have been watched closed in the antitrust process of the automotive industry.

When the guidance was published last for public opinions, relevant authorities conducted antitrust investigations.

At that time Hankook Tire was fined for 2.17 million yuan for reaching monopoly agreement with distributors.

China’s automotive antitrust will focus on five aspects in the future:

First, regulating price fixing, in particular such behavior between producers and distributors;

Second, regulating vertical monopoly, in particular specific issues concerning the competition and aftersales services in the aftermarket;

Third, regulating the abuse of market ascendancy;

Fourth, addressing challenges of global competition and transnational monopoly;

Fifth, further improving relevant institutions and policies.
