Michelin displays farm vehicle tires in northeast China

French tire giant Michelin last week held a road show to introduce the performance of its tires for farm vehicles in Heilongjiang province, northeast China.

Michelin mainly introduced the radial tires and super low pressure tires.

In a test, farm vehicles with diagonal tires caused soil crust of 20cm thickness with a fuel consumption of 75cm. In comparison, vehicles with Michelin radial tires caused soil crust of 16cm thickness with a fuel consumption of 65cm, while those with Michelin super low pressure tires caused soil crust of 12cm thickness with a fuel consumption of 60.5cm.

Soil crust thickness and high fuel consumption are the two major problems facing farmers using big-engine vehicles.

The super low pressure tires that Michelin invented in 2003 have bigger ground contact areas with lower tire pressure, which do a good job in soil conservation.
