NR exports to touch 9.6 million tonnes, up 5.4%, in 2017: ANRPC

The annual exports of Natural Rubber (NR) by Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) in 2017 is expected to touch 9.552 million tonnes, up 5.4%, compared to the same period in 2016. During the first eleven months of 2017 (January-November), the exports of NR by ANRPC member countries posted 6.5% growth to 8.729 million tonnes, on a year-over-year basis. This is inclusive of NR exported to China in the form of compound rubber and mixture rubber.

These predictions were made in the Natural Rubber Trends and Statistics report of ANRPC in November 2017. The estimate is based on actual figures up to August 2017, preliminary estimates for September 2017 to November 2017 and forecasts for December 2017.

“The International Tripartite Rubber Council (ITRC) members-Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand- have agreed to restrict exports volume to address the declining global rubber prices in December 2017. The ITRC implements the Agreed Exports Tonnage Scheme (AETS) for the fifth time since 2012,” the ANRPC report said.
