SAIC Motor
SAIC Motor boasted a year-on-year sales growth of 13.5% with 569,110 vehicles delivered in April. Meanwhile, the automaker delivered a total of 2,391,530 vehicles in the first four months, up 11% from a year ago, the group announced on May 7.
The top 3 subsidiaries by April sales are SAIC-GM, SAIC-VW and SAIC-GM-Wuling, with 483,880 units handed over in total. Apart from SAIC-GM-Wuling and Sunwin Bus, the other subsidiaries all achieved year-on-year sales increase last month. Especially, SAIC-CP boasted a year-on-year leap up to 118.8% to 1,610 units.
Dongfeng Motor
Dongfeng Motor Corporation delivered 328,700 vehicles in April, increasing 10.73% year on year. For the first four months, the group sold a total of 1,295,300 vehicles with a year-on-year climb of 4.09%, according to the data released on the company's official Wechat account.
In April, the deliveries of both PVs and CVs showed two-digit year-on-year growth of 10.76% and 10.56%, with 270,500 units and 58,200 units delivered respectively. With respect to the year-to-date sales, the group handed over 1,090,100 PVs, 205,100 CVs and 4,600 NEVs, growing 3.66%, 6.42% and 4.54% respectively from a year ago.
Changan Auto
Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd (Changan Auto) delivered 186,670 units in April, rising 15.33% from a year ago, while slumping 30.62% over the previous month. For the first four months, the automaker suffered a year-on-year sales downturn of 15.55% to 845,018 units, according to the data the company released on May 9.
In April, Changan Ford suffered a year-on-year slump of 21.98% to 37,800 units. For the first four months, the company delivered a total of 168,251 units, sharply declining 32.46% year on year. The Sino-Japanese joint venture Changan Mazda sported a year-on-year sales jump of 29.83% with 16,236 units delivered in April. Its cumulative sales so far this year were 62,335 units, edging up 2.68% compared with year-ago period. Moreover, Jiangling Motors April sales reached 28,264 units, slightly growing 1.24% year on year, while plunging 26.52% from a month ago. Its year-to-date sales showed a violent year-on-year decrease of 16.81% to 104,720 units.
GAC Group
GAC Group delivered a total of 672,747 vehicles in the first four months, up 7.3% year on year, while its April sales edged down 3.2% over the previous year to 164,315 units, according to the data released by the Group.
GAC Motor boasted a year-on-year sales growth of 4.26% with 43,481 units delivered last month. Meanwhile, its cumulative sales so far this year totaled 192,801 units, jumping 18.01% from a year ago and accomplishing 27.54% of its annual sales target 700,000 units.
As to joint ventures, GAC Honda handed over 52,628 units last month, dropping 12.54% from the previous year. GAC Toyota saw a year-on-year sales jump of 22.45% with 43,140 vehicles handed over in April. GAC Mitsubishi maintained its upward momentum with 11,967 vehicles delivered last month, remarkably rising 19.55% from a year ago.
Geely Auto
Geely Auto delivered a total of 128,817 vehicles (including the Lynk & Co) in April, leaping 49% year on year. For the first four months, its cumulative deliveries skyrocketed 41% from a year ago to 515,113 units, completing 33% of its annual sales target 1.58 million in 2018, the company reported on May 7.
Moreover, the April sales of the Lynk & Co 01 set a new high of 9,079 units. Since it hit the market in November last year, 33,783 units of the premium model have already been delivered by the end of the April.
Great Wall Motor
Great Wall Motor (GWM) sported a year-on-year sales growth of 11.79% with 81,797 units delivered in April, while dropping 7.31% month on month. Meanwhile, the automaker delivered a total of 338,420 units in the first four months, edging down 3.39% over the previous year, according to the sales data GWM released on May 8. Up to now, GWM has completed 29.17% of its annual sales target 1.16 million units in 2018.
In April, its SUV deliveries totaled 68,194 units with a year-on-year growth of 9.78%. Haval SUV sales reached 55,055 units in April, falling 11.37% year on year and declining 8.08% month on month. The sales of the Haval H6 reached 34,014 units in April, not only falling 6.47% year on year, but also declining 11.32% month on month. With respect to WEY, the deliveries of the VV5 and VV7 totaled 13,139 units in April, falling 7.01% from the previous month.
JAC Motors
JAC posted passenger vehicle (PV) sales of 18,689 units in April, edging up 6.6% from a year earlier. This is the second positive sales growth after March, in which JAC saw first positive sales growth after 17-month decline. As to specific model types, pure electric PV and MPV saw relatively large sale growth, while sales of SUV segment suffered a YoY slide of 25.95% over the previous year to 6,767 units in April.
Compared to 24,189 units in March, JAC underwent MoM sales slump of 22.7% in April. During the first four months, JAC delivered nearly 75,000 vehicles with a YoY drop of 10.5%. The good news is that the sales drop is narrowing down.
BYD Auto
BYD delivered 37,363 vehicles in April with a MoM slide of 13.4% in April, according to BYD's April report released on May 9. However, its cumulative sales reached 149,140 units till April.
As to new energy passenger vehicle (PV), BYD sported a remarkable YoY sales surge of 117% to 13,105 units in April, while its cumulative sales totaled 41,604 units. To be specific, BYD saw a MoM sales leap of 21.2% in pure electric PV to 5,657 units in April. By April, BYD sold 10,972 pure electric PVs cumulatively. BYD posted a MoM sales slump of 11.8% in PHEV to 7,448 units in April.
When it comes to traditional fuel-powered vehicles, BYD still suffered sales decline of 19.8% compared with March to 23,445 units.
Qoros Auto
Qoros Auto handed over 5,355 vehicles last month, skyrocketing 400% year on year. Meanwhile, the automaker also boasted a violent year-on-year sales growth of 288% to 11,371 vehicles for the first four months. Reportedly, Qoros Auto plans to roll out two all-electric vehicle models in the next two years.
The outstanding sales performances of Qoros 3 and Qoros 5 that had been refreshed earlier this year contributed a lot to the surprising sales growth in April. Besides, Baoneng Group's strategic investment boosted a sound development of Qoros Auto as well. In April, the company’s dealers increased by 30 across China.
