Vehicle Sales Growth of 2017: No Worries

Vehicles sales in China counted for 3.6% of that of the world in 2000, and 27% in 2015; this year, production and sales of vehicles in China has broken 27 million units; Chinese automobile market has been NO1 continuously in 7 years.

During the past ten months this year, vehicle sales in China has increased by 13.8%, exceeded far from the 6% expectation by China Automotive Industry Association. When talking about this in the round table discussion of the 8th Vehicle List of 2016, Wu Yingqiu, chairman and CEO of Global Auto Media gave a query about the gap between actual sales and the expectation.

Shi Jianhua, deputy secretary general of China Automotive Industry Association, said that the high-speed growth of vehicle sales was influenced by the deration policy of purchase tax for 1.6L vehicles. People all guess that the policy may come to an end in the end of this year, thus they bought cars ahead of schedule.

Gong Bin, vice president of Changan Automobile think that, the growth of vehicle sales in next year maybe reach 6% with the deration policy continuing, while it should be 2%-5% if the policy was ended. The vice-general manager of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd and general manager of its marketing corporation Gao Xinhua said, the growth of vehicle sales in next year can even be zero if the policy ended.

Lin Jie, vice-president of Geely Automobile and general manager of its marketing corporation, said that adjusting the financial resources and weeding out old models should be the focus of the future development.

And Liu Zhi, president of BMW China Automobile Trading Ltd., expressed the same opinion with Lin JIe. He thinks that policies may have a short-term effect on Chinese auto market but is can be ignored in a long time because the development of the whole auto market is determined by sustained development of economy. To increase efficiency and quality according to the need of consumers should be the key points for the revolution of vehicle offering.
