Triangle to open warehouse in Memphis Comments

Triangle Tire USA has selected Memphis, Tenn.,  as the site for its first U.S. distribution center.

The company, a subsidiary of China’s Triangle Group Co. Ltd., is planning to start operations in the coming weeks at a 20,000-sq.-ft. warehouse in Memphis that will allow it to complement its current container-load-only distribution model, according to Triangle’s vice president of sales, Rick Phillips.

Triangle has secured a lease on a property in the Memphis area that could allow Triangle to expand the DC to 100,000 square feet, Mr. Phillips told Tire Business at the recent North American Tire & Retread Expo on New Orleans. The opening of the warehouse comes a year and a half after China’s Triangle Group Co. Ltd. created Triangle Tire North America L.L.C. and settled on Franklin, Tenn., a southern suburb of Nashville, for its headquarters.

Triangle Tire USA CEO Manny Cicero said in early 2016 that having domestic warehousing was a priority for the company’s growth strategy.

Mr. Phillips joined Triangle April 1 after 18 years with Yokohama Tire Corp. In all he has 40 years of tire industry experience.Triangle Group is considered the No. 15 tire maker worldwide, based on 2015 sales of $2.44 billion.
