Promising Prospect for Scrap Tire Recycling

Not long after Qingdao Doublestar Group's Doublestar Zhongyuan Rubber Recycling Park program was settled in an industry cluster in Runan county, Henan province, two tire recycling parks in Sichuan province also started construction.

Zhu Jun, chairman of China Tire Recycling Association, said in 2015, China produced around 330 million scrap tires, which weighted 12 million tons.

Actually, each part of the tire is treasured, products including reclaimed rubber, rubber asphalt, water-proof materials, are made from scrap tire. Gas, oil, carbon black and steel can also be extracted from tires under heat, the potential of scrap tire sector is huge.

Analysis went that key challenge faced by China's scrap tire industry is that companies engaging in scrap tire recycling are usually small and uncompetitive with outdated equipment and low industry concentration.

Establishment of industry parks is capable of gathering resources and concentrating on the development of the industry, further improve the recycling of scrap tires in China.

There is a successful case about scrap tire recycling.

In the reconstruction project of Beijing-Shijiangzhuang expressway, 100,000 tons of scrap tire modified asphalt had been used on the pavement, replacing the SBS modified asphalt, and saved more than 100 million yuan. More than 3 million scrap tires had been fully used.

Therefore, industry insiders believe that the development of scrap tire recycling will be promising in China.
