Swedish energy company National Electric Vehicle Sweden has begun laying the foundation of its new energy vehicle R&D center in the Tianjin Binhai Hi-Tech Industrial Development Area, auto.163.com reported today. Nevs, along with its share holder the Beijing State Research Information Technology Company, hopes that the new center will represent a new stage of development for the Chinese electric vehicle industry both in the country and on the global scale.
Zhang Junkuo, deputy head of the Beijing State Research Information Technology Company, explained that the Chinese new energy automotive market possesses great opportunities for development. Due to economic and political advantages, Tianjin will play an especially important strategic role in the development of the country’s new energy automotive industry. Mr. Zhang also emphasized that he believes Nevs will play a crucial role in promoting the new energy automotive industry in China.
Nevs CEO Kai Johan Jiang (pictured below) will be the CEO of the new partnership between his company and the Beijing State Research Information Technology Company. Mr. Jiang commented that the Chinese government has played an important role in helping support the new energy industry in the country.
