According to Verapong Chaiperm, the Industrial Authority of Thailand governor, a fire on Sunday in Sriricha, Chonburi has caused $40m (£26.6m) in losses.Six out of 15 warehouses at the Linglong International Tyre compound were destroyed by the blaze of which the cause is not yet known.
The fire forced Linglong, one of China's largest tyre companies, to close the factory for two days. Luckily no-one was hurt.
The industrial area is 115km south east of Bangkok.
In a separate incident 13 people were killed in a fire at a Bangladesh plastics factory in the capital city of Dhaka last week; the cause is being investigated.
