Dongfeng mulls over smart automobiles

Dongfeng Motor Corporation has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies in Hubei's capital of Wuhan, the People's Daily reported today. According to the agreement, both parties will cooperate in automotive electronics, smart automobiles and related fields.

According to the agreement, the partnership will have three phases. In the first phase, Huawei will help Dongfeng develop wired and wireless mobile communication products and services for its automobiles. Next, both parties will work on developing automotive networking programs to help promote development of the field. Finally, the two parties will explore development of automated driving technology.
