Chinese Rubber Import monthly increases in May

China imported 649,000 tons of natural rubber and synthetic rubber in May, monthly rising by 51.6% compared to April and yearly rising by 18%, according to statistics from Chinese Customs. 

It had created the highest import in the last three months, only lagging behind January's 697,000 tons.

In the past five months, there has been 2,730,000 tons of rubber imported, yearly decreasing 5.8%.

Analysts said that due to rubber production countries removing export restriction policy, Chinese businessmen imported more rubber because of lower spot price and higher future price.

Statistics showed that rubber plant area reduced half in 2013 after rubber price falling down. And by 2018, added rubber plant area has been cut down 25% compared to 2011.

According rubber production cycle, effection of reducing new plant area would be shown by 2019.
