China's tire exports rise for 2nd straight monthJane Ho, China correspondent TWEET SHARE SHARE EMAILPRINTBEIJING — China's exports of tires improved in September for a second straight month, reversing the negative trend established over the first half of the year.
The value of exports in September, expressed in U.S. dollars, increased 6.9% to $935 million, China's General Administration of Customs disclosed this week. Expressed in metric tons, exports jumped 16.6% from a year ago, to 630,000 tons.
The increases in September follow gains in August of 8.2% in unit count, 3.5% in value, and 14.1% in tonnage.
The Chinese agency did not provide details of exports by tire type or destination.
Over the first nine months of 2020, China's tire exports contracted by 11% compared with the same period in 2019, to 338 million units. The nine-month export value decreased by 13.7% to $6.7 billion; volumes in tonnage dipped 8.7% to 4.3 million tons.
