Shanghai tire export volume in Jan.-May down 12.8% y-o-y

In the first five months of this year, new inflated rubber tires exported from Shanghai Customs totaled 15.05 million, down 12.8% from the same period last year.

The tires valued 2.85 billion yuan, down 5.3%; and the average price was 189.3 yuan/tire, up 8.7%.

1.Export volume in May hits 10-month high

Tires exported from Shanghai Customs in May totaled 3.55 million yuan, hit an eight-month hight, up 17.5% from Apr., but down 11.6% year on year.

The average export price was 187.3 yuan/tire, down 2% from Apr., or up 13.7% year on year.

2.Export in terms of processing trade accounts for nearly 60%

In the first five months, about 8.92 million tires were exported from Shanghai Customs in terms of processing trade, down 15.8%, and accounting for 59.3% of the customs’s total tire export.

About 6.09 million tires were exported in terms of general trade, down 8.7%, and accounting for 40.5%.

3.Foreign-invested exporters take the lead

In the first five months, foreign-invested companies exported 10.65 million tires from Shanghai Customs, down 15%, accounting for 70.8% of the customs’s total tire export.

At the same time, private companies exported 2.56 million tires, down 7.1%, and accounting for 17% of the total.

In addition, state-owned enterprises exported 1.84 million tires, down 7.3%.

4.EU is the largest export destination

About 3.4 million tires were exported from Shanghai Customs to the European Union in Jan.-May, down 5.1%, and accounting for 22.6% of the customs’s total tire export, making EU the largest tire export destination.

The export to the US were 2.59 million, down 13.1% and accounting for 17.2%; that to ASEAN and Japan were 858,000 tires and 625,000 tires, down 41.4% and 22.3%, respectively.

Moreover, the export to Mexico and Canada were 1.5 million tires and 637,000 tires, up 2.8% and 16.7%, respectively.

5.Motorized passenger car tires take greater export share

About 7.00 million motorized passenger car tires were exported from Shanghai Customs in the first five months, down 4.6%, accounting for 46.5% of the customs’s total tire export; and the average export price was 198.4 yuan/tire, up 8.7%.

The export of bus and truck tires reached 2.28 million, down 6.1%, and the average export price was 540.5 yuan/tire, down 6.4%。

In addition, the export of bicycle tires lessened 29.9% to 4.04 million, with the average price down 1.9% to 13.9 yuan/tire; and that of motorcycle tires dropped 9.7% to 1.24 million, with the average price decreasing 29.5% to 47.5 yuan/tire.
