Predicted five key words show great changes in policies for 2017 Chinese auto market Purchasing tax

The policy, which begins in October of last year, will meet its end at the end of this year. The implementation of such policy stimulates new users’ purchasing demands, leading a hot auto market for almost one year. It’s known that relevant departments have been holding meetings with auto companies to discuss the policy recently, but no conclusions have been announced yet.

Congestion tax

The only city that plans to do research and trial work on congestion tax is Beijing City. But no researching proposal has been released yet. The popularization of cars makes a congested city, but levying congestion tax may also face resistance from the public. Besides, China is still encouraging buying cars; it’s quite possible that congestion tax will not be implemented in the short run.

China VI Emission Standard

Beijing City will implement China VI Emission Standard from January 1st, 2016. According to plans from Ministry of Environmental Protection, the national implementation of VI Emission Standard will be set in 2020. Currently, most traditional vehicles are have not prepared for VI Emission Standard, and it’s predicted that some traditional vehicles will avoid Beijing market in the next year. Alternative energy vehicles, especially BEV models, will take the place.

Subsidiaries for Alternative Energy Vehicles

The nation formulated financial subsidiary policies to encourage the consumption of alternative energy vehicles according to their different battery capacity, ranges and models. But the subsidiary limit meets a decline of 20% every year. Stimulated by the subsidiary policy, sales of alternative energy vehicles experience a huge growth to 350,000 units in 2015 and rank first globally. But the subsidiary may continue with different ways in the future.

Limited License Plates

First-tier cities include Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, along with Tianjin, Hangzhou all implemented limited license plate policy. As a direct method of solving traffic jam, limited license plate policy has shown obvious effects and is gradually accepted by citizens. It’s predicted that more cities will use the policy in the future, with fewer limited license plates.
