Goodyear, Michelin and Continental top Chinese online tire sales in Feb.

Goodyear, Michelin and Continental were the three most popular tire brands on e-commerce platforms in China in February 2017, according to statistics from the research arm of Tuhu.cn.

Goodyear ranked the first with an online market share of 12.72 percent, followed by Michelin with a share of 12.22 percent and Continental, 11.54 percent, the Tuhu statistics showed.

About 93 percent of the buyers of online tires were male.

Currently, female drivers own about 33 percent of the cars in China,of whom less than 1 percent buy tires online.

Giti Tire got a favorable comment rate of 79.71 percent in February, higher than any other tire brand.

In the online sales of Goodyear, the three most popular specifications were 195/65R15, 205/55R16 and 225/55R17 in February.

Goodyear saw most online customers come from Jiangsu, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Beijing in February.

About 45 percent of the Goodyear tires sold online were priced between 300 yuan and 500 yuan a piece in February, more than tires of other prices.

In the online sales of Michelin, the two most popular specifications were 205/55R16 and 195/65R15 and the top two patterns were ST and XM2in February.

Michelin saw most customers come from Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Fujianin February.

About 56 percent of the Michelin tires sold online were priced between 500 yuan and 800 yuan a piecein February.

In the online sales of Continental, 205/55R16 and 205/60R16 were the two most popular specifications, and CC6, MC5 and CPC2 were the most popular patterns in February.

Most customers of Continental came from Hubei, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang in February.

Some 84 percent of the Continental tires sold online were priced between 300 yuan and 800 yuan a piecein February.
