Tire Labeling Mechanism Could Eliminate Outdated Capacity: Doublestar Board Chairman

Implementing tire labeling mechanism could help build up Chinese brand.

The 2nd China Green Tire Safety Week kicked off on Jun. 15 in Qingdao, Shandong province.

During the event, China Rubber Industry Association published the Standards for Tire Rating, the Regulations on Tire Label Management, as well as samples of tire labels.Tire rating in China has entered into the phase of voluntary implementation.

Chai Yongshen, director of Tire Division, CRIA, and board chairman of Doublestar Group, took questions at the releasing ceremony.

Labeling Mechanism Promotes Quality Standards

Media: Why CRIA picked a time like this to implement the tire labeling mechanism?

Chai: Implementing tire labeling mechanism is a response to the government's call for supply-side reform as well as an upgrade from creating effective supply to creating new demands.

China's manufacturing technologies have reached the world's front edge in a number of aspects. But why Chinese still buy toilet lids and electric cookers overseas?

The primary reason is that the quality standards in China are different from those in foreign countries, or there are no standards nor regulations. Some companies have no such concept as brand or even services.

Media: How the tire labeling mechanism will promote the industry's development?

Chai: The labeling rules specified rating and access standards in terms of rolling resistance (fuel consumption), tire grip in dry/wet conditions (security), and roadway noise, and the rating standards are in accordance with Europe's.

Implementation of the standards will led to following changes:

1. Easing people's blind faith about overseas products, because same standards meaning same quality;

2. encouraging companies focusing on R&D and selling tires of high standards and quality;

3. Saving companies' costs on resource and development;

4. eliminating outdated capacities and products.

Media: What has Doublestar done in tire labeling?

Chai: To response to the mechanism, Doublestar will take the lead in rolling out green, secure tires soon.

We named the tire model "wild master". It meets green tire standards and is scratch resistant, clashworthy, and puncture proof.

Innovative Meaning for Ecosystem

Media: The "Service 4.0" and "Industry 4.0" of Doublestar are unique in the tire industry. Why you established the two "ecosystems"?

Chai: "Service 4.0" is an auto after-market ecosystem and "Industry 4.0" is a manufacturing ecosystem.

Establishment of the two ecosystems is on the basis of the condition of China's tire industry and Doublestar's goals of a second entrepreneurship and creating a global brand.

Media: In comparison with traditional patterns of sale and services, what are the innovative points of "Service 4.0"?

Chai: The traditional product agent pattern prevented communication between producers and customers and made it difficult to understand users' demand.

As a result, products became increasingly similar; prices turned lower; and the qualitywas bad.

Doublestar's "Service 4.0" ecosystem overturned the conventional agent pattern, realized zero-distance communication with consumers, and turned from "selling products" to "selling services", which means the company sells both our tires and other brands, and we also provide auto aftermarket products and value-added services.

"Service 4.0" Is Not E-commerce

Media: What's the difference between "Service 4.0" and e-commerce?

Chai: Doublestar's "Service 4.0" ecosystem isn't e-commerce in the traditional sense and it isn't O2O.

We can simplifies it as O+O, namely online, offline seamless connection. We attract consumers online with online, offline integration and quality services. Actually, transaction, delivery, installation, tire inflation, dynamic balance could be realized with a message from users, who can also enjoy other services.

Media: Is such pattern replicable for other companies?

Chai: Doublestar established an exclusive aftermarket "Service 4.0" ecosystem, but it isn't solemnly owned by a company.

The pattern serves Doublestar tires and tires of other brands, it can also serve other auto aftermarket products as well as other value-added services needed by users.

"Industry 4.0" Realizes Internal, External Connection

Media: Does Doublestar's "Industry 4.0" refer to modern factory?

Chai: Doublestar establishing "Industry 4.0" to realize large-scale customization and enhance China's smart manufacturing capacity.

In the past, few people took tires as products but auto parts, they were no services and few users chose personalized tires.

Doublestar took the lead in establishing the "Industry 4.0" factory of truck and bus tires.

Media: Human-machine interconnection and intellectualization have been pursued by many companies. What's the difference between Doublestar and others in this aspect?

Chai: Corporate interconnection could be human-human, human-machine, machine-machine, and machine-object. It could also be interconnections between a company and the users, distributors, suppliers, and innovators.

Our smart manufacturing includes smart customization, smart production arrangement, smart material delivery, smart test, smart warehouse, and smart assessment.

Doublestar's "Industry 4.0" factory not only increases quality standards, but also lowers defect rate by over 80%, and the productivity is three-fold of it used to be.
