Tire Cologne canceled; rescheduled until 2022

The organizers of The Tire Cologne have decided to cancel the rescheduled 2021 edition of the biennial trade fair and will instead work toward staging the event in May 2022.

The organizers — Koelnmesse G.m.b.H. and the German Tyre Retail & Vulcanization Trade Association (BRV) — cited "major challenges" and travel restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic for their decision.

The event — originally set for May 2020 — had been rescheduled for May 18-20, 2021, as a "hybrid" trade fair, featuring an in-person trade show at the Cologne Fair Grounds and a digital exhibition taking place at the same time for exhibitors and participants who could not or chose not to travel to Cologne due to COVID restrictions. "Together we are now focusing our attention on the event in the coming year, in order to again position The Tire Cologne as the leading global industry trade fair," BRV Managing Director Yorick Lowin said of 2022.The 2022 edition will be just the second tire industry trade show carried out under the Koelmesse/BRV partnership. The first was in 2018, when it took over the spot in the international calendar for this type of event from the biennial Reifen trade show that had been held in Essen, Germany, for decades.

The Tire Cologne targets companies involved with the tire and car industry, including tire manufacturers, tire retailers, car service providers, workshop outfitters, etc.

News of this cancellation follows by only a few days word that the Tire Technology Expo (TTE) industry conference and expo was being canceled and rescheduled for April 2022.
