Five tire producers draft new criterion for green tires

The Assessment and Technology Criterion for Green Design Products - Auto Tire drafted by China Rubber Industry Association has been submitted for approval and is put out for public comment within the industry.

After the revision, it will replace the Green Tire Specifications published in 2014.

A total of five enterprises, namely Double Coin Tire, Doublestar Group, Linglong Tire, Zhongce Rubber, and Triangle Tire, drafted the criterion.

The criterion stipulate the green assessment standards of automobile radial tires and the methods for compiling and assessing of assessment report of product lifecycle, which are applicable to radial tires of passenger cars, light trucks and heavy-load trucks.

According to the criterion, green tire products should meet all the basic requirements and assessment standards, and the producers should submit the lifecycle assessment reports.

The basic requirements are:

Tire products should receive China Compulsory Certification;

Establish and implement the quality management with respect to GB/T 19001, establish and implement the environment management system with respect to GB/T 24001, and establish and implement energy management system with respect to GB/T 23331.

The discharge of water pollutant and volatile organic compounds during the production should be consistent with the provisions of GB 27632.

Comprehensive energy consumption per unit of product production should be consistent with the provisions of GB 200449.

Tire composite index should be consistent with the provisions of Appendix A.

In addition, the criterion also stipulate the requirement for raw materials and performance of tires.
