Homemade modified natural rubber extends tire lifecycle

Thetechnical appraisal meeting of the 10,000-ton nano-clay natural rubber industrialization program was held recently in Haikou, Hainan province.

The expert panel holds that the technology and production line are technologically advanced in the world.

Better quality of modified natural rubber

With booming development of the rubber industry, China has become the world’s major natural rubber consumer and importer.

However, the domestic market still depends on high-end rubber imports.

Hainan Rubber Group and Beijing University of Chemical Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement in 2014 for joint development of high performance nano clay natural rubber to reduce the dependence.

The core technology of the “nano clay natural rubber” program adjusted and improved the structure of natural rubber, increased the quality of modified rubber by introducing nano clay in natural rubber for the first time.

Industrial application

In the past, most domestic research focused on the improvement of techniques, but the “nano clay natural rubber” technology finds out practical means to improve the quality of natural rubber.

Moreover, the technology’s compatibility during the application is better. Rubber producers only need to add a few necessary technical procedures and environments on the basis of existing technology.

Nano clay natural rubber can be widely applied in high-end rubber products, such as aircraft tire and heavy machinery tires.

The rubber has been successfully used by Aeolus Tyre, Linglong Tire, and Zhongce Rubber, and is capable of extending the lifecycle of existing tire products by 20%.
