Over 1,500 enterprises resume production in Shandong

Over 1,500 dispersed and polluting enterprises in Zibo, Shandong province, passed the environmental acceptance examination and resumed production.

Included are 886 enterprises in Zhoucun district (as of Aug. 24), 637 enterprises in Boshan district (as of Aug. 27), and most of them are small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Not long ago, the Ministry of Environmental Protection said in a regular meeting that it rejects part of local governments’ inaction and random action, and their wrongdoings in dealing with development and environmental protection.

According to the environmental protection authority in Zibo, they have changed the way of rectification, and accelerated environmental acceptance examination on dispersed and polluting enterprises.

For those that have passed the examination, the authority will grant them to resume production.

Besides Shandong province, Zhejiang province has notified relevant authorities to help some SMEs to resume production.

According to local government, some SMEs stopped work and production to avoid environmental inspection when they saw some peers were reported on and cracked down.

Ningbo government says it will help enterprises understand the positive meanings of central environmental inspection and help relevant enterprises resume regular production.
