Tire sector in Shandong accelerates transition to intelligent manufacturing

Shandong Economic and Information Technology Committee and the Finance Bureau of Shandong Province jointly constituted Shandong Provincial Intelligent Manufacturing Development Plan 2017-2022.

According to the plan, tire sector will be a key sector to focus on intelligent manufacturing in the province.

The province encourages researches on intelligent equipment kit, new production patterns based on big data and Internet of Things, and building digital workshop or plant for tire manufacturing.

It also expects tire enterprises to collect big data in the lifecycle of tire, such as sale, production and energy consumption, and to make market prediction, schedule production planning, trace the quality of the whole process, analyze and predict energy consumption, and control the production remotely.

The file also encourages local enterprises to apply core intelligent equipment, develop advanced tire moulds, and work out intelligent comprehensive solutions about tire mould processing.

According to the file, the province will enhance financial support and expand financial supportive channels, to help tire producers transform to intelligent manufacturing.

Over the past few years, tire producers, including Sentury, Triangle Tire, Qingdao Doublestar, and Sailun Jinyu, made significant progresses in intelligent manufacturing.

An industrial analyst says that with the development plan coming out, tire producers in Shandong may embrace a wave of intelligent manufacturing in the coming years.
