Six ministries announce plan to consolidate scrap tire recycling sector

Six ministries have issued a working plan to put in order and consolidate the scrap tire recycling sector.

According to the working plan, relevant government authorities will conduct thorough investigation in Sept., and put the sector in order and consolidate it in Oct.-Nov.

Moreover, the authorities will supervise part of the regions to be consolidated in Dec., and submit the final report to the State Council.

The cleanup and consolidation works aim to close down the illegal processing workshops with severe pollution, dispersed and polluting enterprises, and scrap tire collecting and distributing centers.

In addition, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and other ministries will give guidance to concerning enterprises and encourage them to apply advanced techniques, develop together, and build and operate pollution control equipment together.

According to the document, relevant ministries will advocate concentrated, scaled, clean development of domestic waste goods recycling, and encourage lawful, legitimate recycling enterprises to work together, merge, and become bigger.

The environmental protection authority and industry and commerce department will enforce the law jointly, and crackdown illegal pollution discharge and unlicensed businesses.
