Synthetic rubber producer forced to stop production for air quality

A total of 116 companies in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, were forced to stop production during May 17-22, in a bid to ensure the air quality when the first Jiangsu Development Summit was held May 19-21.

Nanjing Yangzi Jinpu Rubber Co., Ltd. was one of them.

Over the past few years, as the request for environment protection becomes stricter, producers with pollutant emission are frequently asked to limit or stop production when there were important conferences or events.

The Yangzi Jinpu Rubber program started in 2007 with joint investment by Yangtze Petroleum & Chemical Co., Ltd. of Sinopec and Jiangsu Jinpu Group.

At the beginning, the company’s emulsion type styrene butadiene rubber capacity was 100,000 tons per year.

In 2013, its butadiene rubber capacity reached 200,000 tons per year.

In 2015, Jinpu Group proposed to transfer equity to Yangtze Petroleum & Chemical and quit the rubber business.

In 2016, Yangtze Petroleum & Chemical and Jinpu Group officially inked agreement for the former to purchase the rubber business from the latter.

After the removal of Gaoqiao Petroleum & Chemical’s butadiene rubber production equipment, the rubber program of Yangzi Jinpu Rubber became the only synthetic rubber production equipment of Sinopec in the Yangtze River delta.
