China Tire Exports to Europe, America Fall Sharply

Chinas tire exports in January 2016 plummeted more than 14 percentage points on both year-on-year and month-on-month bases.

In January, Chinas tire exports to the United States edged up 2.2 percent year on year, but fell 9.5 percent month on month.

The United States has been Chinas largest exporting market. The drop in exports is directly related to the U.S. anti-dumping and countervailing investigations into Chinese tires. Currently, the United States International Trade Commission has initially determined that Chinas truck tire exports t to the country has produced material damage or threats to its related industries.

Earlier in August 2015, the Department of Commerce has ordered heavy antidumping and countervailing duties against passenger and light truck tires imported from China. Since then, Chinas tire exports to the U.S. have showed the trend of declines.

Statistics also show that Chinas January tire exports to Germany and Britain also registered double-digit declines on year-on-year and month-on-month bases.
