China Spearheads Drafting First International RFID Standards for Tire

The pre-kick off meeting of four RFID international standards for tire was launched in Qingdao, Shandong province.

The four international standards will be led by China and drafted by MESNAC, a Chinese rubber & tire machinery supplier, and co-drafted by a number of institutes and companies across the world.

The four international standards were submitted in June 2015, after which a three-month public vote by ISO members was followed.

The program was officially initiated on Oct.6, 2015 by ISO with the supports of ISO members.

After that, the ISO/TC31/WG10 working group was established.

The convener of the working group was Dong Lanfei from MESNAC and the co-sponsor was Pierre Loiret from Michelin.

The pre-kick off meeting was held by Dong.

The meeting discussed agendas of the working group and reached consensuses and agreements. The meeting made well preparation for the global kick off meeting of RFID international standards for tire to be held in July in Brussels, Belgium.

The four international standards are the first ones included in an ISO program by China’s tire industry as well as the first ones for electronic tire products.

Drafting of the four standards will accelerate the application of RFID technology in tire and contribute to technical evolution of the tire industry.
