A domestic platform dealing with auto complaints has released data on tire complains in 2017.
Tire complaints decrease
Statistics show that the number of complaints concerning tires was 408 in 2017, down from 538 complaints in 2016. The complaints decreased for the first time since 2014.
Among the 408 complaints in 2017, 137 complaints were about tire blowout, accounting for 33.58% of total complaints; 176 complaints were about worn tires, accounting for 43.14%; 62 were about bulging tires, accounting for 15.20%; and 33 were about flat tires, accounting for 8.09%.
It is worthy of attention that the number of complaints for worn tire increased considerably in 2017.
In addition, 343 out of the 408 complaints have been dealt with, accounting for 73%; while there are 127 complaints haven’t been dealt with, accounting for 27%. More complaints have been dealt with in 2017 than in 2016.
Warranty standards need to be unified
Although more complaints have been dealt with, it mainly depends on producers’ self-discipline.
Due to lack of standards, the decisions of tire warranty are made by producers, and the situation is complicated.
The term of warranty ranges from 3 to 5 years. Currently, domestic tire warranty still has three issues.
First, no unified warranty standards have been established for tires, automaker and tire producers have different explanation.
Second, the so-called “national standard” followed during the claim settlement is actually the Management Rules over Automobile Tire Claim Settlement.
Third, the assessments of the quality of tires are made by producers and the results are doubtable.
