Top 10 made-in-China PV, car, SUV models by Nov. wholesales

The wholesale volume of China's locally-produced PVs (referring to cars, MPVs, SUVs and minibus) reached 2.3 million units in November, jumping 11.3% from a year ago, according to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

As of Nov., the country has seen its PV wholesales grow for seven consecutive months. Notably, the monthly year-on-year growth between July and November all topped 7%. The CPCA said the robust performance was primarily thanks to the better-than-expected recovery in macro-economic climate and export business.

For the first eleven months, PV wholesales totaled 17.767 million units, dropping 7.7% from a year ago. The decrease in year-to-date sales has been continuously shrinking since March onwards.

Haval H6 SUV honored the best-selling PV model

Among the top 10 China-made PV models by Nov. wholesales, there were six car models, three SUV models and one MPV model. Except the Lavida, the Corolla and the Hongguang MPV, the others all achieved growth over a year ago. The fast-growing one is the Excelle, whose wholesale zoomed up 121% year on year.

It is noteworthy that the model at the top of the rankings was a SUV, namely the Haval H6. However, the other SUV models only occupied the last two places on the top 10 list.

Model 3 moves up 14 spots from Oct. to the tenth in car rankings

According to the CPCA, China's car wholesales volume rose 9% from the prior-year period to 1.047 million units last month. In the Jan.-Nov. period, automakers in China sold roughly 8.223 million cars, a decrease of 11.1%.

Among the top 10 car models by Nov. wholesales, only the Hongguang MINI EV was from China's self-owned brands.

Compared to October, the top 3 car models remained unchanged. Both the Excelle and the Corolla moved one spot to the fourth and fifth. The Sagitar dropped two places to the sixth, while both the Hongguang MINI EV and the Civic sustained their rankings.

The Hongguang MINI EV, a micro electric vehicle (EV) model just hit the market in July, advanced into the seventh place among homegrown car models. Its monthly wholesales leapt 18.87% to 28,246 units in November from 23,762 units in October, and the year-to-date volume totaled 58,912 units.

In terms of retail sales, the Hongguang MINI EV was crowning China-made NEV models for three straight months.

The Model 3 surged 14 spots over a month ago to the 10th. With a wholesale volume of 114,265 units, it was crowned the best-selling locally-produced NEV model for the Jan.-Nov. period.

Five of top 10 SUV models from China's local brands

The CPCA said the SUV wholesales volume rose 14.4% from the year-ago period to 1.087 million units. For the first eleven months, automakers in China sold around 8.303 million SUVs, a decrease of 1.7%.

Unlike the car rankings predominated by joint-venture models, half of the top 10 SUV models came from Chinese indigenous marques.

Compared to October, the first four places of the SUV rankings were still the Haval H6, the Changan CS75, the CR-V and the Boyue, and all of them attained double-digit year-on-year growth. The X-Trail climbed six spots to the fifth. Both the Envision and the Tiggo 8 posted sales hike of over 50%. The Haval M6 fell one spot to the ninth, while its sales still got a two-digit increase.
