25000 new energy vehicles produced in China in 2015 H1

A total of 25,000 new energy automobiles were manufactured in China in June, the Beijing Daily reported today, citing statistics from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Monthly production numbers of pure electric passenger automobiles doubled to 10,500 units, while production numbers of plug-in hybrid passenger automobiles increased sevenfold, totaling 6,663 units. Meanwhile, production numbers for pure electric and plug-in hybrid commercial vehicles totaled 6,218 units and 1,645 units, with the former figure representing fivefold growth. A total of 78,500 new energy vehicles have been manufactured in China from January to June, triple the amount made over the first half of last year.

As emissions continue to rise and energy resources keep dwindling, the development of new energy vehicles has become a crucial focal point for the Chinese automotive industry as it aims to become a true world leader. Since 2008, the new energy vehicle market in China has been growing with the aid of a number of favorable government policies aimed to promote its development. However, only 49 of the 88 cities which have been designated as new energy vehicle testing sites have actually introduced policies targeted at boosting new energy vehicle sales. 39 cities have yet to introduce any such policies.
