Chinese homebred car brands see Apr mkt share down 2.53 points on year

China's homebred passenger car brands saw their market share down by 2.53 percentage points year on year and 2.19 percentage points month on month to 37.06 percent in April, said Chen Shihua, director of the information department with the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Sales of China's home passenger car brands stood at 596,900 units in April, an increase of 4.5 percent year on year but down 11.15 percent from March.

Meanwhile, passenger vehicle sales of brands from Germany, Japan, the United States, the Republic of Korea, and Francecame to 344,100, 260,800, 198,100, 141,700 and 62,100 units in April, taking up about 21.39 percent, 16.21 percent, 12.31 percent, 8.87 percent and 3.86 percent market share, respectively.
