Michelin, BFG, Uniroyal car/LT tire prices going up 8% on April 1

Michelin North America Inc. is planning to raise prices on select Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal car and light truck tires in the U.S. and Canada by up to 8% on April 1, on top of a 5% increase imposed on Feb. 1.

The increase also will affect "select urban delivery offers" one month after Michelin increased prices on commercial services, select commercial offers to fleet customers and select materials-handling products.

Michelin cited "changing business dynamics" and the rising costs of raw materials as factors it considered in deciding to raise prices again. Price changes may vary across specific products within each brand portfolio, Michelin said. Details will be presented directly to dealers and urban fleet customers with additional questions addressed directly through account managers. The company's price increase on Feb. 1 affected Michelin and BFGoodrich car and light truck tires. Michelin raised prices on Uniroyal-brand products last November by an undisclosed amount.
