Geely Holding announces 2020 auto sales topping 2.1 million units

Zhejiang Geely Holding Group (Geely Holding or the Group), the parent of Geely Auto, said its full-year sales exceeded 2.1 million units in 2020.

Geely Auto sold 1,320,217 new vehicles (including the sales of Lynk & Co-branded vehicles) through 2020. Last year, the automaker hit the milestone of 10-million-unit cumulative sales.

In spite of the coronavirus spread, Geely Auto's overseas business sales still leapt 25% year over year to nearly 73,000 units.

Geely Auto recently took the wraps off its all-new SUV based on the CMA Mudular Architecture. Code-named KX11, the model is set to make its debut at this year's Auto China in Shanghai and go into volume production in the third quarter.

Lynk & Co's sales for the year of 2020 surged 37% from a year ago to 175,456 units. As of today, the Chinese-Swedish brand has had over 420,000 users. 

Proton sold 109,716 new cars last year, an 8.8% growth compared to the same period a year ago. Its export volume soared 49.8% year over year.

Volvo Cars sold 661,713 vehicles worldwide in 2020, of which 166,617 units were contributed by Chinese market business, a 7.5% increase from a year earlier.

The 2020 sales of Volvo Recharge, the brand's product lineup of plug-in hybrid and pure electric cars, more than doubled over the year-ago period.

According to the Group, Polestar has to-day opened 40 customer experience spaces (Polestar Space) around the world, of which 15 are launched in China. The Polestar 1 HEV and the Polestar 2 BEV are currently available for delivery.

Geely Holding also noted the sales of Lotus Cars recorded evident increase last year in Europe and the U.S. markets.
