Huawei Technologies Co.,Ltd. unveiled on July 10 a patent about autonomous driving system it filed for in December 2018, according to the enterprise information query system Tianyancha.

The patent is about an autonomous driving method and system, which can be used to determine the autonomous driving strategy based on the historical driving behavior data and real-time environment data, so as to achieve safe driving.

As a world-leading 5G commercial solution provider, Huawei announced on May 9 it had launched the 5G-enabled automobile ecosystem by cooperating with 18 automakers and mobility service providers.

The first batch of partners include FAW Group (FAW Hongqi, FAW Besturn and FAW Jiefang), Changan Automobile, Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle and Dongfeng Sokon), SAIC Group (SAIC Motor PV and SAIC-GM-Wuling), GAC Group (GAC NE), BAIC Group (BAIC BJEV), BYD, Great Wall Motor, Chery Holding, JAC Motors, Yutong Group, SERES, Naveco and T3 Mobility.

Within the ecosystem, Huawei and its cooperators will work on building 5G-powered vehicles that take account of the all-new driving and entertainment experience consumers perceive, and co-promoting the commercial application of 5G technologies in automobile industry.

Huawei said the 5G vehicle is a strategic highlight and stronghold of innovation which many automakers are trying to seize. Featuring higher reliability and speed coupled with low latency, 5G technology can carve out more application spaces for scenarios of connectivity, smart transportation and autonomous driving.

At the Huawei Global Analyst 2020, Huawei released the Autonomous Driving Network Solution White Paper, which proposes setting the level 4 as the scheduled milestone of its future autonomous driving architecture.
