China refused a tire recycling project set up in Xinjiang

Recently, Urumqi Economy Technology Development Zone said that it refused a tire recycling project set up in Xinjiang Province. The refused project was planned to invest 200 million yuan.

However, the project's environment evaluation was not approved by the local government, which meant that the whole project might be involved in high-consumption, high-pollution and high-emission.

In recent two years, waste tyre recycling industry hasn't developed well in Xinjiang Province, due to the local government always says no to high-pollution project.

An official in local environment protection department said that they don't like any high-pollution projects like waste tire recycling and processing project.

On March 10, 2017, China's Chairman Xi Jinping said in Xinjiang delegate meeting during The 5th Session of 12th NPC, it was forbidden to set up high-pollution, high-emission and high-consumption project in Xinjiang Province.
