Yuelong Rubber fined for air pollution

Two firms were punished by the Environmental Protection Bureau of Weifang, Shandong province, with a total forfeit of 200,000 yuan for violating the environmental protection rules.

Weifang Yuelong Rubber Co., Ltd. was one of them.

As the firm’s pollutant emission to the air exceeded national and local standards, it was ordered to correct the illegal behavior with a fine of 100,000 yuan.

Business scope of Yuelong Rubber includes the production of agricultural tires, heavy-duty bias tires, all-steel radial tires, engineering machinery tires and forklift tires.

The company’s main business revenue in 2015 was 674 million yuan.

The Regulation of Air Pollution Prevention and Control of Shandong Province was issued last July as the toughest environmental protective rules ever.

The new rules emphasize the responsibility of local governments and the punishments on contaminative firms are tougher.

In 2016, 229 firms in Shouguang, where Longyue Rubber locates, were penalized for illegal pollutant discharge.

Guo Shuqing, governor of Shandong province, stressed at this year’s “two sessions” of Shandong province that local authorities should strictly enforce the laws concerning safety, environmental protection and energy consumption, eliminating overcapacity in the steel, tire and chemicals industries.
