Tire producers shoudl be prudent in choosing steel cord: Xingda Steel Cord Vice Chief Engineer
Jiangsu Xingda Steel Cord Co., Ltd. has held the annual business meeting for 2018.
Wang Aiping, vice chief engineer of the company, talked about his opinions on the trends of steel cord development and the light-weighting paths of tires.
He said the producer shouldn’t emphasize high strength of steel cord products only. When the steel cord becomes stronger, the producer must consider the negative impacts on structure and diameter.
There is little difference between international and domestic tire producers in choosing PCR steel cord, while their differences are in TBR steel cord.
Overseas tire producers use thin TBR steel cords with dense structure; while domestic producers prefer stronger steel cords.
He concluded that tire producers should select steel cords according to the design of the tires.
