Maqiao Plant of Halead Partly Resumes Production

Zhejiang Halead New Material Co., Ltd. disclosed lately that its Maqiao plant has resumed production partly.

A severe incident occurred on Nov. 22, 2016, in the Maqiao plant of Halead and some people were injured and dead.

As a result, the plant’s polyester production lines and a part of industrial yarn production lines stopped operation.

While accepting the investigation by CITIC Construction, Halead disclosed that in the first half of Dec. 2016, most spinning production lines had started using spare boilers and resumed production. The production of polyester and a small part of yarns need to purchase new gas boilers for heating.

The new boilers were lighted on Dec. 19. So far, the polyester production lines are preparing for ordinary production.

The company said when the production is resumed comprehensively, it will release an announcement about the progress of the treatment of the incident.

The annual capacities of the Maqiao plant of Halead include polyester industrial filament of 160,000 tons and polyester chips of 100,000 tons. Those of the Jianshan plant are cord fabric of 30,000 tons and HMLS of 30,000 tons. Halead’s plastic cement capacity is in the Jianshan plant.

In addition, the Jianshan plant’s third-phase expansion project will add HMLS capacity of 20,000 tons, the equipment needed have been decided and contracted, and the project is expected to come on stream in the fourth quarter of this year; the third-phase cord fabric project will add a capacity of 15,000 tons, which will come on stream in the second half of 2018.

Currently, Halead’s sales of cord fabric are about 2,000 tons per month.
