World’s first track-less train hits China roads

The world’s first track-less train is doing the rounds on the internet as it has begun its first test run in China. The Pictures and videos of the train running on the virtual rails shows, it may become the future of urban transport.

China Rail Corporation, reportedly, started designing this new system in 2013 and is now all set to hit the roads, beginning its operation in 2018.

The transportation system uses rubber wheels with a plastic core, which is a copyrighted design Chinese Rail Corporation.

The new transit system is all set to launch in Zhuzhou, China's Hunan province, to help manage the traffic problems.

Also known as Autonomous Rail Transit (ART) is equipped with a sensor technology that follows the guided path mapped on the roads. Initially fitted with three carriages, the corporation plans to increase it to five with passenger capacity of up to 300.

The two locomotive body of 31.64m long train will allow it to make turns easily and its twin-head system removes the need of U-turn.

The transit system, apart from dealing with the traffic problems, will also further solve emission and congestion-related issues.
