BAIC Group may build branch in Xinjiang, producing BJ series models

Recently, China Economic Net Auto Channel got news that BAIC Group will build factory in Xinjiang, and cooperate with Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps to produce BJ series models. Details about cooperation model, investment size and factory construction are expected to be released at the beginning of September.

It’s learned that the cooperation between BAIC Group and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps will fully exercise BAIC’s strengths in auto production, manufacturing and technological R&D on one hand, and will help the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps’ industrial upgrading on the other hand, showing great significance to border areas’ construction.

Considering the western natural environment, economy and customer habits, BAIC Xinjiang Base is expected to induce the self-developed BJ series, including BJ80 and other models.

During the “12th-five” period, BAIC is actively conducting industrial layouts, and integrate innovation according to their own development demands. Its self-independent industrial bases are located around the five major areas, including Hebei Huanghua, Jiangxi Jingdezhen, Guangdong Zengcheng, Hunan Zhuzhou and Yunnan Dehong. During the period, BAIC’s self-independent brands also achieve the “leapfrog development” of 650,000 units’ volume.

According to official news from Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, the Corps is now promoting new industrialization. The industry steps from farm and sideline product processing industry, gradually forming an industrial system of centering on light industry, textiles, and including steel, coal, building materials, power, chemical industry and machinery, laying foundation for the modern industrial development of Xinjiang.

Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps’ total industrial added values are RMB 58.34b in 2015, increasing 16.2% with the previous year. Above-scale industrial added values increase 13.7%. Divided by categories, coal mining decreases 14.7%, while electric power, heating power, gas, water and supplying industry increase 14.5%.
