Tokai Carbon (Tianjin) Closes down a Carbon Black Production Line

Tokai Carbon decided to adjust the business operation of its branch in Tianjin and close down a carbon black production line, cutting the capacity from 110,000 tons to 70,000 tons.

In the meantime, the company will make adjustment to the equipment for power generation by exhaust gases.

The company plans to increase the share of products with higher value added to enhance its profitability and to seek for stable demands.

The measures will be taken till the end of this year.

Tokai Carbon said the moves are to address the imbalance between supply and demand, sharp price decline, and operating benefits slide in Chinese carbon black market.

After two years’ construction, Tokai Carbon (Tianjin) has a 25,000-ton hard carbon blackproduction line, a 30,000-ton hard production line, a 25,000-ton soft carbon black production line, and a 30,000-ton soft production line.
