ZTE Invest 14.6 Billion Yuan Join the Auto Market

ZTE corporation will invest 14.6 billion yuan to carry out its auto business. Up to now, ZTE has completed the acquisition of Zhuhai Guangtong Bus, and has set up ZTE ITS Co. Ltd. In the future, ZTE will mainly focus on new energy commercial passenger vehicles, centering on research and development, design, and manufacturing. It will create a new industry sector by focusing on car networking applications, big data, automatic driving, and development, construction and operation of computing centers .

ZTE has set up a new ZTE ITS Co. Ltd., and the investment totals up to 14.6 billion yuan. In July this year, ZTE has completed the acquisition of Zhuhai Guangtong Bus, and has bought 1200 mu of land in Jinwan district of Zhuhai. It divides the  construction of new energy base into two phases, planning to achieve the capacity of 10,000 vehicles of new energy vehicle  by the end of 2017, and other commercial passenger vehicles 20,000 vehicles. In the future it will provide 204 units of 8-meter long pure electric buses and intelligent charging supporting basic services and other related services for Shenzhen Western Bus Co. Ltd.

Tian Feng, deputy general manager of ZTE ITS, in an interview said, “the trend of the vehicle is electric and intelligent, which is the advantage of ZTE. On the other hand, new energy vehicle is an important direction of China's manufacturing upgrading, and also a strategic opportunity for China's auto industry to go beyond the countries in Europe and America. Our perspective is that in the future the car is a smart phone with four wheels. Transportation systems will be integrated into the smart city, intelligent transportation, networking, including big data, cloud computing.”
