Apollo Tyres Ltd has confirmed that tyre production at its Oragadam, near Chennai factory has been disrupted by heavy rain and flooding in the area.
“production was disrupted in three shifts till December 2, 2015. The production loss due to this natural calamity is 450 MT (approximately),” Apollo wrote in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing. Such natural phenomena are said to be covered by the firm’s insurance policies.
Apollo’s Chennai plant manufactures truck and bus radials. The factory is currently expanding from 8,900 tyres per day to 12,000 tyres per day.
