Chinese tiremaker Beijing Capital Tyre Co. is recalling some of its Autoguard tires due to endurance testing failure and incorrect load data on their sidewalls.
The 2,711 tires in question are in size LT245/75R16, and were produced between June 12 and Nov. 11, 2012. Tire Group International Inc. is the U.S. distributor of the product.
According to NHTSA, which issued the recall notice, “These tires failed the endurance test standards of FMVSS 139 and contain incorrect maximum load data on the sidewall. Thus, these tires fail to comply to the requirements of FMVSS No. 139.” As such, the tires “may crack in the tread area leading to sudden air loss, and tire failure. Additionally, owners may unknowingly overload the tires, which may lead to tire failure. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.”
