Hankook Tire'ss Chongqing plant to come on stream at around end-Aug.

South Korean firm Hankook Tire, the seventh largest tire manufacturer around the world, plans to put itsChongqing plant into operation at around the end of this month, according to Chongqing Morning Post.

 

The new plant, based in the Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing municipality, is scheduled to produce 2.50 million tires in 2013 and 6.30 million tires in 2014.

 

With an investment of 950 million U.S. dollars, the plant will be chiefly for the manufacture of radial tires for truck and sedan use.

 

The plant is Hankook’s third plant inChina and sixth plant around the world.

 

Construction on theChongqing plant started in 2011.
