SunTek: an "intruder" in China auto foil market

When Mr. Li first went into Beijing international exhibition hall, he was attracted by a familiar auto foil brand – SunTek. With its Chinese name coming into sight, he suddenly understood that SunTek’s Chinese name is “Shengke”.

“I often saw the brand in my hometown, but never know where it is from,” said Mr Li, from Henan Province, China’s largest agriculture direction.

“In China, SunTek is not as known as other brands, but it has been the second largest auto foil manufacturer in the world,” said Chu jie, regional manager, Greater China of SunTek.

“To China, we are a little late.” He said.

As a late “intruder”, Chu said that China’s auto foil market is still on the beginning stage.

“In past few years, China’s consumers just started owning their first cars, which decided that they paid more attention on autos’ performance than on comfort. Now, it’s the time for maturing consumers to learn more about auto accessories.” Chu explained.

In the middle of February, the world’s top four auto foil manufacturers gathered in Beijing for the first time in the 14th China International Expo for Auto Electronics, Accessories, Tuning and Car Care Products (CIAACE 2012). The booths for Suntek, 3M, Solutia and Saint-Gobain were set next to each other, which attracted many attendees' attention.

More and more people, like Mr. Li, began to know Commonwealth Laminating & Coating (Shanghai) Inc. (CLCS), mother company of “SunTek”, founded in 2007, is a subsidiary company of U.S. Commonwealth Laminating & Coating, Inc.'s, as well as its outlet center in China and the whole Asian-Pacific region.

Just as Chu said, Chinese consumers are showing solicitude for auto accessories. Maybe, the real competition is only a start.
