Huaxia Bank ETC took the crown at the 2012 China Super Truck Racing competition, which ended on Nov 12 in Wucheng county, Shandong province.
After four-stop qualifying sessions, six teams reached the final of the competition, which celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Huaxia Bank was the winner after its major rivals — Cooper-Chengshan Tire and Linggongli Lubricant — had technical problems and failed to complete the race.
The 20-ton Super Trucks in this year’s competition were manufactured by China’s Shaanxi Automobile Group, a company known for its portfolio of heavy-duty vehicles. The trucks had beefed-up engines and a few tweaks in the seats and cabs to ensure the safety of the drivers.
Super truck racing is a popular sport in the United States, Germany, Australia and the United Kingdom.
The Federation Internationale de l’Automobile hosts a Europe-wide Truck Racing Championship each year. CTR is the only national truck-racing contest, and it aims to promote the sport in China.
