Natural rubber import surges in China

China imported 160,000 tons of natural rubber in June, year-on-year jumping 45.45%, but month-on-month down by 11.11%. Its total import yearly rose by 13.79% to 990,000 tons in the first half year of 2012, according to statistics from China’s General Administration of Customs.

Statistics also showed that import of synthetic rubber increased 8.18% to 115,744 tons in June compared to the same period in 2011, but decreased by 8.53% compared to May 2012. In all, China totally imported 720,128 tons between January and June, yearly down by 1.63%.

In the first half year, China total imported 2.68 billion dollars of synthetic rubber, year-on-year growing 5.1%. In June, import value reached 440 million dollars.
