China’s scrap tire industry supports carbon abatement with action

Climate change is a challenge confronts the human society. Not long ago, nearly 200 nations of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change agreed to cut greenhouse gas emissions to limit the rise in the global average temperature to below 2 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels.

China, as a proactive participant of the affair, promised to have its carbon emission come to a peak by around 2030 and reduce the carbon emission intensity of gross domestic product growth by 60%-65% from 2005.

The National Development and Reform Commission made a timetable and planned to launch a national carbon transaction market before 2017.

Notably that many Chinese companies have been participating in developing the emission verification system and criteria, making efforts to reduce the emission ofpollutants.

Lately, the Carbon Market Development Forum of Scrap Tire Industry was held in Tianjin municipality.

A number of industrial experts attended the forum and made speeches.

Sponsors of the forum bought carbon emission allowance from Tianjin Emission Rights Exchange to neutralize the emission generated from the forum, making it a carbon-free conference.

As a renewable resource, recycle of scrap tires is capable of reducing carbon emission and facilitating transformation and upgrade of the tire industry.
