Vietnam Feb. rubber exports down 54.2% on month

Vietnamexported 50,000 metric tons of rubber in February, down 54.2% from January and down 43.8% from February 2012, data from the government's General Statistics Office showed Tuesday.

The value of the exports fell to 137 million US dollars in February from 296 million US dollars in January, the GSO said.

Vietnamexported 159,000 tons of rubber valued at 433 million US dollars in the first two months of this year, flat in volume compared with the same period last year but down 2.5% in terms of value, the data showed.

The GSO usually issues rubber data before the end of the reporting period, based on estimates.
