National standard for pure electric passenger car is to implement in July

Under the organization of MIIT and led by National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization, the national standard: General Specification for Pure Electrical Passenger Cars (GB/T 28382-2012) was released on May 11, 2012. This standard was developed jointly by manufacturers such as Tianjin Qingyuan Co., Ltd., Dongfeng, Chery, Changan, GMAC-SAIC and universities including Tsinghua University and Tongji University, and approved by AQSIQ and SAC.

This standard will be implemented on July 1, 2012.

Profound experiments and deep studies had been conducted with a large quantity of data collected in the development of this standard. Advice from all walks of the society was taken. This standard applies to the pure electrical vehicles driven by power battery with less than 5 seats; it requires the maximum speed of the car within 30 minutes being or faster than than 80 km/h, and the driving range with a mode cycle test beyond 80 km. In the meantime, technology indicators such as safety performance, mass distribution, accelerating performance, slope performance, low temperature performance and reliability are also stipulated in the standard.
 
The release of the national standard: General Specification for Pure Electrical Passenger Cars will standardize R&D and manufacturing of electrical vehicle in China, promote its market application, reinforce its management and subsequently accelerate the healthy development of the whole auto industry.
