Indonesia offers cooperation in tire industry to China

Indonesia, as one of the largest rubber producers globally, is extending opportunities to China for cooperation in the tire industry.
"Only by increasing cooperation in various fields can we comprehend the meaning of a comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China in future," Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun informed ANTARA on Thursday.
The ambassador believes that bilateral economic cooperation between Indonesia and China, especially in the fields of trade, investment, and tourism, has a solid basis.
"As the world's key rubber producer, Indonesia also opens wide opportunities for cooperation with China in the tire industry," the former Indonesian ambassador to Russia affirmed.
In 2019, Indonesia was the second-largest natural rubber exporter in the world, with an export value of US$3.9 billion, contributing 29.8 percent to the value of the worldwide rubber exports.
"Cooperation having added value with China, including the use of science and technology as well as joint researches for development of the tire industry in Indonesia, is expected to offer benefits for the Indonesian tire industry to become more competitive in the global market," Oratmangun noted.
Earlier, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) of Shandong Province, in collaboration with the China-ASEAN Business Association (CABA), held an International Auto Tire and Accessories Exhibition in Dongying City, Shandong Province, in eastern China.
The expo also featured a virtual business forum meeting attended by 200 participants from the industry.
Indonesia was represented by the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade, Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) of the Chinese Committee (KIKT), Indonesian Tire Employers Association (APBI), PT Greenex Sumatra Mandiri, PT Gapura Alas Lestari, and PT Mas Mulia.
Attendees at the meeting from the Chinese side comprised representatives of the Shandong Yongsheng Rubber Group Co. Ltd, Shandong Shuangwang Rubber Co. Ltd, Dongying Fangxing Rubber Co. Ltd, Shandong Huasheng Rubber Co. Ltd, and Jinyu Tire Group Co. Ltd.
KIKT Chairman Hendrayan Chandra is optimistic about the online business forum serving as a platform and entry point for Chinese entrepreneurs to collaborate with leading tire manufacturers in Indonesia.
